David Shepherd and Travis Price are both very responsible boys. Not only did they stand up for somebody that needed their support, they used the situation to teach others a valuable lesson. They showed kids all over the world that a little teamwork and cooperation makes a big difference. I believe that Travis and David, who were both in grade twelve, found out that a boy younger than them was being bullied for wearing a shirt that was pink. Older students were giving this boy a hard time by calling him homosexual and threatening him. Unable to let this event pass unnoticed, Travis and David decided to do something about it. They went to a discount store and bought at least 50 pink shirts. Later, they emailed their friends and the word spread like wildfire.
Everyone wore pink and the boy was very surprised. It just goes to show what empathy and a little teamwork can do.
The bullies were lacking probably every character trait David and Travis had. They were not being respectful as far as anyone could see. They also lacked empathy and responsibility. As 18 year olds, they should have been respectful to those who were new to the school. Instead they made a false assumption that the grade nine student was gay because he wore and pink shirt, and decided to give him a hard time about it. This shows how closed minded people can be. Just because a BOY wore a pink shirt, he’s suddenly unmanly or gay. This is a serious point because the boy wasn’t gay at all, and even if he was, he should never have been treated as he was. Travis and David also saw this and stood up for the boy, even though it never should have happened in the first place.
I am proud of the students who were on Travis and David’s side; they cooperated with these two students and wore pink shirts to prove how loyal they were. That day, when the student who was bullied saw what everyone was doing, was very surprised and happy. I agree with what David and Travis did 100 per cent and couldn’t have done better otherwise. They are smart, caring students that know the difference between right and wrong. No student should have gone through what the grade nine did, but should be lucky enough to have peers who care so much.

GREAT work Neda! This is very well written. Good work addressing the reasons why the bullies were wrong. I especially like your point that it is silly that men who wear pink are automatically considered gay. An excellent series of paragraphs!
